Eight months of intensive coaching and colleague development has culminated in our future-leaders graduating from our very first, in-house, ‘Rising Stars’ programme.

Contributing as an integral element of CarShop’s revamped engagement strategy, the process of developing the programme kicked-off in early 2015. Our People Team worked with managers across the business to design a robust succession-planning journey, aimed to future-proof the business by nurturing home-grown talent.

Officially launching in September 2015, candidates from all areas of the business were assigned to a member of senior management team, acting as their programme mentor. This carefully thought-out appointment ensured that the ‘stars’ were placed with a skill-set which specifically embellished their individual development journey.

Alongside a structured plan of internal, external, individual and collaborative learning, these mentors provided all-important experience-backed coaching. Thus giving the ‘stars’ a taste of how to behave, evolve, encourage and deliver aspects of senior management necessary to drive business excellence in its four key ‘best CarShop in town’ behaviour areas – customers, teams, colleagues and process.

In progressing through this journey, candidates had to dedicate themselves both to continually delivering excellence in their own roles, alongside embracing self-study and business discovery.

Throughout the programme these ‘rising stars’ have demonstrated ultimate dedication to our business and, as a result, are in a good position to step-up and move into more senior positions when presented with the opportunity.

This is yet another milestone in our mission of being an employer of choice in our store areas, and just enhances recent other great accolades including the Investors in People Silver accreditation, and the launch of our new Engage Benefits and Rewards platforms.
