Since opening its doors at the beginning of December, our newest store – CarShop Nottingham, has been committed to supporting the local community. One of the ways it is doing this is through a charity partnership with local organisation, The Renewal Trust.

This partnership kicked off at the end of last year, with a ‘Feel Good Christmas’ campaign that saw the store partially fund and deliver 400 bags of vital goods like food and household items to homes, schools and community centres in two of the most deprived areas of Nottingham – these being St Ann’s and Sneinton.

Now, with children breaking up from school for the Easter holidays, The Renewal Trust will be once again providing 200 breakfast bags to those who need them. These will contain essential breakfast items such as bread, cereal, butter and juice – along with a seasonal special Easter egg treat for every recipient.

Upon hearing about this, our colleagues at CarShop Nottingham immediately volunteered their support. The team set about buying Easter eggs that could be included in the bags and promised its help in delivering the packages on two dates in April.

As a result, our store will be donating over 300 Easter eggs – all of which have been bought by the team members themselves, and it will be donating its courtesy car, which displays The Renewal Trust branding on its sides, to the charity for the delivery days to take the breakfast bags and Easter treats from A to B. Our Nottingham colleagues have also volunteered their time to drive the car and help carry the bags – ensuring that everyone who needs one, receives one.

Carla Pallester, Brand Experience Manager at CarShop Nottingham, said: “The impact of this current lockdown has been felt by all of us and with schools breaking up for Easter, many parents and households might be worried about the financial costs of having more mouths to feed throughout the day.

“But hopefully, with these breakfast bags delivered, we can help lift a weight off their minds and reassure them that they are not alone. We hope the Easter egg will be a nice addition to raise spirits too!”

Cherry Underwood, Chief Executive of The Renewal Trust, added: “We’re so grateful for the support of local businesses like CarShop Nottingham, that take the time to get to know the community and invest in its people. The team were a huge help to us throughout the Christmas campaign, and I’m sure they will be invaluable again now.”

Our CarShop Nottingham colleagues have also chosen The Renewal Trust as the store’s Pink Coin charity, meaning that every customer who buys a used car from them will be given a pink coin that represents £1. They can either choose to donate this to our national charity – Global Make Some Noise – or The Renewal Trust.

All of this money is then given to The Renewal Trust at the end of every month, so that it can continue to do the fantastic work it does for the people of St Ann’s and Sneinton. And in just the four months since this has been set up, hundreds of pounds have already been raised.

“I’m so proud of our CarShop Nottingham colleagues for keeping resilient and optimistic throughout this time, despite the changes,” Carla concluded, “and for continuing to think of others before themselves.”
