Every car is different but regular services can help reduce the impact of wear and tear on any car.

That’s why CarShop has service centres across the UK ensuring no matter where you’re driving to or from, your vehicle can get a great value service to reduce the risk of breakdown and possible future costs.

Regular servicing and checks is really the only way to keep your car healthy and in its best shape possible so we look at the benefits, costs and when you should get your vehicle serviced.

How frequently should I service my car?

All cars should be serviced annually or before it reaches a certain mileage, outlined by the manufacturer, usually around 12,000, whichever comes first. It’s best to check the service intervals and information in your car’s handbook as this may vary depending on the vehicle.

What happens during a service?

During a service a technician will give your vehicle a thorough examination looking at everything from the bodywork to the health of your brakes and engine.

It’s not something that can be done at home as technicians need special equipment and training to be able to measure and monitor the state of the vehicle.

During a car service the technician will complete a range of tasks including:

· Checking fluid levels such as: brake fluid, engine oil, screen wash and coolant

· Replacing filters in the vehicle

· Check radiators

· Carry out brake checks

What is included depends on the type of service that you opt for at the time.

What kinds of car services are there?

CarShop offers a range of service packages available for all cars starting from £99 to keep cars, no matter how old or how many miles, as safe as they can be on the road.

Interim Service –

This is a six month service that provides a vehicle health check, oil change, oil filter and top up of all levels.

Full Service –

This is a 10,000 mile full service that features a vehicle health check, oil change, oil filter, air filter, top up of all levels and a wash.

Major Service –

This is ideal for high mileage users and includes a vehicle health check, change oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, pollen filter, spark plugs, engine oil flush, fuel additive, top up all levels and a wash and vacuum.

Air Conditioning Refill –

This is to recharge your air conditioning or have it fully serviced including change of anti-bacterial filters.

Not many people think about servicing their car air conditioning, but as your system loses up to 15% of its refrigerant every year, it makes sense to keep on top of it.

Benefits of servicing a car regularly

The main benefit of regularly servicing your car is that your car will always have a clean bill of health, making it the safest it can be on the roads. It will also give you peace of mind if you’re ever going on long journeys.

It’s also an investment, it will protect any warranty that your car has, and will avoid expensive repairs in the long run by keeping an eye on everything in short intervals rather than leaving a problem to develop and worsen.

Moreover, it will help the car to keep its value, meaning that when you come to sell it, it will be more appealing and will boost its value to potential buyers.
