Many avid social media users will be familiar with the term “Life Hack,” which tends to mean a novelty method that simplifies a task. A couple of popular examples include: feeding a straw through the tab of a drinks can to prevent it from rising, and using your sunglasses as a phone stand for watching video content.

There are plenty of websites dedicated to sub-genres of life hacks, obviously including cars. In this blog, we list our favourite car life hacks that make your life on the road that little bit easier:

1. Use a staple remover to help you put your key on a key ring

Broken nails are a thing of the past just by using this common office apparatus!

2. Use your heated seats to keep your takeaway warm

Not just for keeping your buns toasty during the winter months!

3. Bang your door on the garage wall? Use pool noodles!

Cheap to come by, use either glue or bolts, like in the picture, at the height at which your door touches the wall.

4. Use a plastic cereal container as a rubbish bin

Many of us are guilty of throwing rubbish on the floor of the car and leaving it for a significant amount of time. That can be a thing of the past. These cereal containers can be picked up for a couple of quid and keep your car looking a lot tidier. Don’t forget to use a bin liner!

5. Increase remote key range by using it against your head

Not sure if you locked your car upon getting into the house? Rather than go back outside, use your key whilst it’s next to your head to increase the range. Apparently it’s something to do with the fluids in your head boosting the conductivity. All we know is it works!

6. Forget which side your fuel tank is on?

On most cars, the petrol gauge has an arrow pointing to which side your tank is on. No more stretching the hose at the pumps!
