We’ve opened our first store in the West Midlands: welcome to the family, CarShop Wolverhampton

Another announcement about a new store opening? Yep, that’s right. Our second store in the last month has now opened, located in Wolverhampton.

CarShop Wolverhampton is our 14th store across the UK, but our first in the West Midlands. We have built up quite a presence in the East Midlands recently, with our Nottingham flagship store opening at the end of last year, and our first-of-its-kind Express concept store in Leicester opening last May. This has all gone down extremely well with the community, so we decided it was time to expand into the West.

Our newest store, CarShop Wolverhampton, opened its doors to the West Midlands on Friday 8th October. Situated off Armstrong Way, the 4.6-acre site features a large outdoor forecourt - holding up to 400 different makes and models of used cars - a modern indoor showroom, a friendly customer area where car-buyers can sit down with a colleague and discuss the best options for them, as well as a service centre that provides visitors with a quick and convenient way to MOT, service and repair their car.

Some of the community may be familiar with the site of Armstrong Way, which was formerly owned by motor dealers Autoworld. As part of taking over the site, we ensured that no jobs would be lost, promising to bring all 19 former Autoworld staff members on board as CarShop colleagues - now that’s good carma.

The opening has also led to 25 more jobs being created for the local area, ranging from customer service advisors and handover managers to mechanics and MOT technicians. Our team of new CarShop employees are always on hand and foot to provide a welcoming, comfortable, and enjoyable shopping experience to the people of Wolverhampton.

Leading the brand new team is Ashley Barton, CarShop Wolverhampton’s Head of Business. Ashley’s role sees him returning to his roots as he previously held the position of General Manager at The Car People in 2017, which was acquired by ourselves in 2019.

Speaking on the news, Ashley said: “I’m very excited to be bringing the CarShop experience to the West Midlands. Wolverhampton, in particular, is such a thriving city, full of exciting businesses, brilliant communities and lots of potential customers – making it the perfect place for a CarShop.”
